Welcome!

Welcome to the Comfort Middle School Band webpage!  My name is Chris Mulliniks, and this is the beginning of my 30th year as a teacher. During that time, I have enjoyed working with young musicians from elementary, middle school, and high school.  I’m looking forward to working with you and your child this year.

This is my 16th year teaching at Comfort Middle School & Comfort High School where I have taught Band and Applied Music classes, coached the UIL Music Memory team, and serve as advisor to the CMS chapter of the Tri-M Music Honor Society.

Prior to my time here in Comfort, I taught for three years in Corpus Christi, Texas, and spent 11 years teaching in Tucson, Arizona. My education includes a Bachelor of Science Degree in Music Education from Tennessee Technological University and a Master of Music degree from the University of Arizona.

My wife, Tammy, and I live in Kerrville, Texas, with our three children all of which are students in Comfort ISD.

Sincerely,

Chris Mulliniks

Making It Work

@School

Big breath...the school year is about to get started again.  I’m excited, nervous, and waiting to see all of your faces again!  We are a team and we band togther to make sure everyone is here and ready.  Can I help you?  Send me a note or stop by and see me.  Let’s talk about what’s going on.  Band is the subject that I teach, but it is really just a vehicle to help you become your best and work on the who, what, and how as you discover the why of everything you do.  Let’s find out why together!

Benefits of Music

The benefits of band extend far beyond the mastery and understanding of musical technique.  The nurturing of a positive self-image is a certain reward for any student who plays an active role in the band.  Ongoing research confirms that music students score higher in academic subjects and are actively sought by colleges and universities, not only for their musical talents, but also because they rank at the top of their classes in school.
